7 Reasons to Try a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

I am SO excited to write this post. I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my HTMA results since coming back from Aruba. After reviewing the test, I learned a lot of info about the current state of my body’s mineral balance. I am excited to apply this new info and continue to work with my body towards my best health!

I am writing a detailed post all about my HTMA results and what I plan to do moving forward to balance out my body.  Back in November, I signed up for the Holistic Mineral Balancing Program where I am learning how to use HTMA.

Today I want to go over why you should consider a HTMA and what you can learn about your body’s health!

What is the HTMA test?

It is a test the measures the mineral content in your hair. All you need to do is cut a small bit of hair near your scalp and mail it in! The results show your unique metabolic world and current biochemistry occurring at the period of growth. And your results will help us create a personalized blueprint to get you feeling back to healthy and on the path to prevent chronic health conditions.

Why Are Minerals Important?

Minerals are key to create enzymes in the body. Enzymes tell the body to do specific tasks needed for optimal function. Minerals are the “spark plugs” to life and give us life!!

Why do We have Mineral Imbalances?

Our Diet – A high sugar, refined, and processed foods do not nutritionally support our body adequately with mineral-rich foods. With our current soil, a healthy diet full of vegetables doesn’t always provide enough minerals as much of our soil has been depleted.

Stress – Stress shows up in many ways. You might feel emotionally upset, frustrated at crazy traffic, or nervous about losing your job, all of this is stress on the body. And stress depletes minerals in the body.

Medications – Prescriptions and over the counter medications deplete the body of mineral stores and increase the levels of toxic metals. This includes: ibuprofen, birth control pill, and antacids.

Pollution – We cannot escape exposure to toxic metals, but we can limit them by looking at our environment. Examples include: anti-antiperspirants which have aluminum, dental amalgams that have mercury and cadmium, and you can find lead in cosmetics products. Toxic metals lead to both metabolic disruption and nutrient imbalances.

Supplements – Taking poorly made supplements and incorrect amounts of supplements can produce vitamin and mineral imbalances or deficiencies.

Genetics – Some people have the MTHFR gene which makes detoxing more difficult. Others have a predisposition towards specific minerals imbalances.

Here are 7 things your HTMA Can Reveal about your Health:

Rate of your Metabolism

Are you Slow Oxidizer or Fast Oxidizer? This is a great way to know how you should feed your body and why you might be struggling with weight gain or weight loss.

Adrenal Health

The sodium and potassium ratios are a window into our adrenal cellular function. If you struggle with overwhelm, exhaustion, dizziness upon standing, fatigue, difficultly waking up, low blood pressure, and high cortisol at night – the HTMA can be the final push to show you that you need to start taking care of your adrenal and make those changes.

Thyroid Health

Too high of calcium hardens the body and makes the thyroid hormone more difficult to get into the cell. You want a balanced ratio of CA to K for optimal thyroid function. All those calcium supplements you are taking might be making things worse!

The Ability to Digest Protein

Low levels of Phosphorus could be sign that you aren’t eating enough protein. And if you eat plenty of protein, you might not be fully breaking down and absorbing protein.

Heavy Metals

The test shows heavy metals that have been released in your hair.  This is a snapshot of what metals you may be exposed to and together we can look at ways of reducing them.  And we can create a detox plan to support the continual removal of these metals.

Digestion

Low thyroid and low adrenals impact digestion. Low thyroid is a sign that digestion is slowing down. And low adrenal function can be one possibility to why you continually struggle with leaky gut and food sensitivities.

The Exact Supplements Needed to Support your Body

No more guessing and buying random supplements. Learn exactly what supplements you can take to support your body to feeling its best. 😊

As you can see, a HTMA test can provide a window into your body’s health. I believe that HTMA is a great test no matter where you are at on your health journey. I plan to regularly test my own hair to track my progress and adjust my personal health plan as needed.

If you are curious about getting an HTMA test + consultation, please apply at the consultation tab! Once you submit the application, I will reach out to set up a quick chat to see how we can work together to reach your health goals! Can’t wait to talk with you!
